Letter to Families_May Student Assessments
April 25, 2017

Dear Bradford Families,

This is a reminder that during the upcoming month of May, our third and fourth graders will begin their state PARCC assessments for both math and language arts.  Additionally, the fourth grade will also be taking the state level NECAP assessment for science.

The fourth grade will begin PARCC testing on Monday, May 1st, and will test through the completion of the PARCC assessment on Tuesday, May 9th.  Additionally, the fourth grade will also be taking the state level assessments for science, the NECAP assessment, from Tuesday May 16th through Friday, May 19th.

The third grade will be taking their PARCC assessments on Wednesday, May 10th through Friday, May 18th.

As partners with Bradford Elementary School, it is important that families assist with these assessments by ensuring that students have: strong attendance, especially during these blocks of time, a good night's rest each and every night, and an understanding of the importance of these assessments.  While these assessments are but one set of measures that demonstrate how our students can perform, they are an important set of measures that help to guide our approach with each student.

Thank you in advance for you cooperation.

Sincerely,

Timothy Ward C.A.G.S.
B.E.S. Teacher Leader/Curriculum Leader

Anti-Bullying
At Westerly Public Schools, we believe that a students’ right to feel safe in school is paramount and contributes significantly to his or her capacity for learning and social development.  Westerly Public Schools believes that preventing bullying, harassment, dating violence and/or sexual violence is critical for creating and maintaining a safe, secure and positive school climate and culture, which in turn supports academic achievement, increases school engagement, respects the rights of all individuals and groups and purposefully builds community.

Parents can find information regarding Bradford Elementary School’s Anti-Bullying policy on page 9 of the Bradford Elementary School Handbook. The WPS Anti -Bullying Task Force and Hotline  webpage is where you can find WPS protocols, hotline phone number, and bullying reporting forms. The official WPS Anti-Bullying policies are found on pages 28-29 of the WPS Grades PK-4 Student Expectation Handbook
